CM to inaugurate medical college

Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin will take part in the function at Tiruvarur and hand over the first admission card to a student. The college has an intake capacity of 100 and will start functioning on August 1 .
Constructed at over Rs.100 crore , the college is a boon to Tiruvarur district. The Collector said an outpatient ward and a 300-bedded hospital have already started functioning on the campus.
"This we did to fulfil the requirement of the Indian Medical Council. The letter of indent came from the Medical Council on Monday. We will get the letter of permission in a couple of days," the Collector said. Buses are plying from the town to the medical college campus.
“Faculty building, lecture halls, library, boys and girls hostels and a hostel for nursing students have been completed. Dean quarters, quarters for staff, an animal house and a mortuary block are nearing completion.
An examination hall will be completed in time and plans are afoot to construct an auditorium,” he said, for conducting examinations. An auditorium will also be constructed.Tiruvarur, Villupuram and Dharmapuri government medical colleges have been included in the second counselling for admission scheduled to be held on July 18. Hundred students will be admitted to the college, he added.
