In Kollywood, this year from January to June 31, there were 53 films released. Among them 9 recovered their cost or make profits. Comparing this with last year figure, there were 61 films released and 10 made profits.

The following films topped the box office:

3.Nadodigal* - Hit
4.Masilamani – Hit
5.Yaavarum Nalam –Hit
6.Siva manasula sakthi – Hit
7.Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu – Hit
8.Pasanga – Above Average
9.Maayandi Kudumbathar – Average
10. Arundhathi (Dubbed)** - Hit

*The film is released only on July 26, the hit will turn out only after few days.
**It is a Telugu dubbed film purchased at very high rate.

 The big budget films of Surya's Ayan and Dhanush's Padikadhavan are exceptions and the other films failed to cover the cost of Production and marketing. Whereas it should be notable that the small budget films like Siva Manasula Sakthi, Yavarum Nalam, Vennila kabadi Kuzhu, Pasanga, Nadodigal hit the screen well.
