Two more H1N1 deaths in city

The H1N1 influenza has claimed two more lives since Tuesday, taking the death toll in the city to 176.
According to Uddhav Gavande, deputy director of the state health services, Ganesh Bahirwade (30), a resident of Chinchwad, died at 9.50 am at Nirmaya Hospital in Chinchwad on Tuesday, while another victim Savita Nitin Vaidya (23), a resident of Hawaldarwasti, taluka Parner in Ahmednagar district, died at KEM hospital at 12.50 pm on Wednesday. “Both were H1N1 positive,” said Gavande.
According to him, Bahirwade had developed swine flu symptoms on January 26. He was admitted to the Nirmaya Hospital in Chinchwad on February 1. Savita developed symptoms of the swine flu from January 18. She was admitted to the KEM hospital on January 23.
“She was nine month's pregnant at the time of admission and gave birth to a still-born baby on January 24,” said Gavande. Both patients were critical at the time of admission, added Gavande.
