Mittal commends Indian economy
Steel giant ArcelorMittal's chairman and CEO Lakshmi N Mittal today commended the Indian economy for achieving 7.4 per cent growth rate in 2009-10 fiscal amid the global economic slowdown.

Speaking at the Global Investors' Meet, organised by the Karnataka government, he said as he travels around the world, visiting the company's operations in about 60 countries, he is seeing signs of improvement everywhere.

"However, it is clear that economic recovery is not happening at the universal pace," Mittal said. "Two distinct trends are emerging. That of developed countries, which are travelling in the slow lane, while the developing countries are on the speedy lane. This for me is the most interesting economic trend to be reinforced by the crisis."

The rise of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) countries, rapidly industrialising countries and other developing economies are reshaping the global economy.
